Why relieved? You ask.
Because there is barely any time during apple season.
It’s that time of the year that every farmer eagerly awaits.
Many of them taking the final account of the crop, many busy preparing everything around it from arrange boxes, packers, labourer, pickups, and finding suitable markets.
All amidst of when our national highway at Nigulsari (station to exist out of Kinnaur) is affected with heavy landslide that have and will continue to disrupt the transport in the district.
But even with all these anticipations and nervousness when you sit with your native people on a walk up for some work, listening to everyone’s tales - someone narrating how their guard dog was taken away by leopard in the apple orchards few nights ago, someone sharing the upcoming plans for Ukhyang/Fuliyach ( a local festival) or how apple thekedar has already proposed a good price in advance, or how last season's payment is still not clear.
- there is a sense of community belongingness where everyone knows whats happening in the village; some excited, some nervous, some nonchalant - but all connected.
This moment may be temporary - a short resting point on the walk uphill, but this frame tells a story of what builds this country's real essence, our rural spaces where life is still connected to each other; in good, in bad - that there could be challenges on the way up, but a few light moments with your people is all that is needed to know that:
