For nearly 20 years, Thakur ji and his joint family have carefully tended to their apple farms in the Yuwaringi and Peo area, cultivating varieties such as Richard, Gala, and Red Royal. In addition to apples, Thakur ji also grows native grapes, apricots, cherries, almonds, and walnuts, along with seasonal vegetables for their own consumption, making their farm fully self-sustainable. With deep roots in apple farming, Thakur ji has witnessed both the progress and challenges that come with it, from dealing with root rot in higher altitude orchards to navigating transportation and labour issues during peak season.
